Brides want to feel beautiful, but they also want to feel sexy on their big day. This year it is all about impact, in all the right places. You will see brides get daring as she adds some oomph to her dress with an open, low cut or sexy back.
The refined, but not too revealing Sophisticated V-Necks are also on trend, as they “enhance the collarbone, narrow a broad shoulder, and slim the figure as the eye travels in to the waistline” according to Marcie Muehlke, co-founder of Celia Grace.
Bridesmaids dresses are an important part in setting the theme, but why not allow your maids to be comfortable at the same time? Mismatched bridesmaids dresses have been on the rise the last few years and are in coming in full force this 2016 season. Allow your girls to choose their own dresses in colors and styles that flatter their bodies. They will be more confidant, and are more likely to wear it more than once, making everyone happier. You can choose to have everyone in the same shade with a different style, same style with different shades, or go completely mismatched with different shades and styles, and even throw in a few prints. The key is to have something to tie then all together, whether that is the fabric, cut, or color. When it is done right, the perfectly imperfect style looks amazing.
This is another one of my favorite trends this year—Bridesmaids Separates. Not only do they look stunning, but they are easier to re-wear and your maids get two great pieces to add to their closets. It is a great way to incorporate your wedding palette, since you have two pieces to play with. You can also combine two trends by subtly vary the look within a bridal party allowing them to choose which top they want.
The cake tasting for me was, by far, the most fun part of wedding planning. And, something that my hubby was more than happy to participate in. And, why wouldn’t he? Choices for wedding cake flavor are no longer, chocolate or vanilla. Over the last few years, with the help of Pinterest I’m sure, wedding cake flavors have become an art form. In demand flavors this year include: salted caramel, white chocolate mousse, lemon, champagne, lavender-vanilla, apple spice, green tea, and chai latte. My wedding cake flavors were chocolate with raspberry mousse, amaretto, and white chocolate cake with a coconut rum frosting. Eight months later I still get people raving about the cake. Don’t just wow guests with a beautiful cake, wow their taste buds too!
Who says you have to stick with cake. This year you will see a bunch of delicious cake alternatives, from brides who are using creative options to stretch their dollar, and brides who just don’t like cake! Do you and your partner both love the same dessert? Why not use that instead? It is the perfect way to add a little bit of your personalities into the day. If you want to mix it up, the possibilities are endless! Here are some examples: tiered cheesecake, flavorful pies, ice cream, cookies, or even donuts.
